How we arrive at a fair premium

The carrier sends one number. We rebuild it.

blankit rebuilds the carrier’s health and dental premium from the group’s own claims with recognized Canadian actuarial methods, counters every other line below the ask, and shows every step in the report you hand back.

When the carrier’s ask holds up, your analysis says so — and the counter is labelled as a negotiating position rather than dressed as a claims finding. A tool that finds every renewal excessive isn’t an analysis.

Four corrections to the carrier’s number

  1. Pool out the large claims

Take out the catastrophic claims — the pooling charge already pays for that risk.

  2. Complete and trend the claims

Add claims incurred but not yet reported, then project to the new plan year.

  3. Blend for credibility

Weight the group’s experience against the manual rate by how much data there is. The manual starts from last year’s rate, not this year’s ask.

  4. Hold to the carrier’s own target

Gross up to the carrier’s own target loss ratio — not a benchmark we invented.

Where the walk stops is the fair premium — the figure your renewal report and the carrier challenge are built on.
Where every figure comes from

Nothing silently defaults.

Target loss ratio and IBNR are never defaulted — if one is missing, blankit asks. Anything synthesized is footnoted, and any adjustment you make is shown to the carrier with its reason.

1The carrier’s disclosures — used as stated, except a credibility below our standard or a 0% IBNR
2Your client’s saved assumptions — from their booklet, a figure you enter, or your CRM if you use one
3Platform fallbacks — last resort, flagged on your analysis screen
